NOT because I enjoyed seeing Kurt being sexually assaulted. Really, you keep using that term but I don’t think you know what it means.
BUT because this is the kind of plot I’ve been hoping for since there was talk of them moving to New York. Grown up experiences, both good and bad, that show they’re becoming adults and facing adult problems, learning the consequences of their actions and basically leaving childhood behind and beginning to learn how the real world works away from the protection of high school,
Let’s be frank, three small town kids alone in New York City: It was sad, but not at all surprising they would be deceived and taken advantage off within the first year of being there. It was not nice, but shows there are always nice are boring (or kids’ shows). It was something better than nice, something Glee has been lacking a lot - it was realistic.
Performing jobs available for inexperienced struggling actors majorly sucking? Realistic. Rachel, Santana and Kurt allowing a complete stranger into their home? Since they are kids just moving out of a small town where you normally know/trust everyone, so realistic. The three of them getting drunk with said complete stranger? Hell yeah, naive/overly trusting kids, realistic. Kurt
begging for the dconsenting to a sexual encounter he came to painfully regret later? He’s a heart broken inexperienced teenager, which is basically the epitome of vulnerable - realistic realistic realistic.
So no, I would not trade this episode for another happy Klaine duet and other jolly songs bunched up together in a ball of warm Christmas feelings with no plot whatsoever and the single purpose of selling the Christmas album. Actually, I’d trade all the episodes of the show since the ending of season 3 for one more episode in which we see young adults becoming adults and interesting, grown up story lines for the interesting, grown up characters.
